I live in Caithness and I am a Nuclear Engineer with 42 years experience with Rolls Royce Ltd. now retired and conducting consultancy services.
Art is a hobby but, as I am sure many others find, you build up a collection of your work and don't have enough room to display it. Some people I know showed an interest and wanted to buy them. This lead to displaying some at local art exhibitions with some sucess in selling.
Although I have pottered about with painting for some years I only started to take it more seriously in the last 5 years.
I am entirerly self taught, just pick up the brush and give it a go. Read some books watched some TV learn from mistakes and keep trying.
Some people say I wish I could paint, it must be great to have a talent. I say have you tried. They say no! Well I say give it a go all you can do is spend a little time trying something out and there is no harm to you or any one else.
My prefered medium is oil but see advantages of acrylic at times. I have tried watercolour at times and have only recently started to feel I am understanding it and have some control.
I support a charity called Sense Scotland and will donate 10% of my sales from this site to them. I have explained a bit about them on a seperate page.
